Visit La Jolla Lutheran Church
When you have a campfire, you need to keep adding fuel to it or it will go out. From time to time, you may need to rearrange the logs so they will burn at their best. It's the same for love. Love will diminish and may go out if you don't actively keep working to make it better.
Surprisingly, love is independent of the object. That means that a parent might love a child even if the child is misbehaving.
If you have a spouse who is behaving badly, you can still love them.
If someone you work with is behaving badly, you can still love them.
If the country you live in is behaving badly, you can still love it.

Matthew 24:12-13 (NRSV)
Because of the increase of lawlessness, the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
