Jesus wants to be remembered as being broken for you

The night before he died, Jesus told his followers to remember him as being broken and poured out for their sake.

In this video we'll look at three troubling parts of the Bible and how they reveal God's amazing mercy: Genesis 22, Exodus 12, and Luke 22:1-23.

Genesis 22 tells about Abraham believing that God wanted him to kill his son Isaac. Exodus 12 tells about God killing the firstborn son of everyone in Egypt who didn't have a Passover Lamb's blood on the doorframe of their house. Luke 22 tells how Jesus took elements of the Passover meal and described how he wanted to be remembered -- as his body being broken for us and his blood being poured out for us. The next day he was crucified.

Each of these troubling stories has hidden insights into God's merciful character, love and compassion.

God, help us to comprehend your great mercy for us. Thank you. Amen!

If you don't know if Jesus is worth following, it would be good to read the New Testament to learn more about him.

If you are a follower of Jesus, be baptized in water and ask God for the gift of the Holy Spirit. (See our video on this.)
