Bible insights from your friends at La Jolla Lutheran Church

Ask. Pray. Act.

When you hear bad news, sometimes you have to react immediately. But most of the time, that's only what it feels like. Most of the time, the first thing to do is to find out more information. Almost everyone who tells us bad news will be biased and leave out details. Sometimes those details would change our opinion about what action (if any) needs to be taken.

After you find out the facts, it's helpful to talk to God about the situation and your plans. Then take action.

Esther models this helpful process in Esther 4: she gets more information and she prays before she acts.

God, help us to take appropriate action when we hear bad news. Thank you. Amen.
