Ask for the Holy Spirit

Jesus says the Holy Spirit is available to anyone who asks.

It doesn't matter if they seem worthy or not. It doesn't matter what religion they are. It doesn't matter how much or how little they know. Jesus says God loves to give something as good as the Holy Spirit to people who ask.

You can read what Jesus says about this in Luke 11:9-13.

Perhaps you need some encouragement. Why would someone want to ask for the Holy Spirit?

Here's a few things the Bible says about the value of asking for the Holy Spirit:

1) The Holy Spirit guides you, helping you seize opportunities and recognize truths that are otherwise hidden. (See John 16:13.)

2) The Holy Spirit is your advocate. (See John 14:16-17.)

3) The Holy Spirit encourages you, comforts you and builds you up through the gift of prophecy (just one of the gifts given to the body of believers). (See 1 Corinthians 14:3.)

4) The Holy Spirit equips you for the amazing tasks God wants you to do. The ways the Holy Spirit will equip you will differ from the ways the Spirit equips other people in your social circle. And all the various gifts will work together to accomplish things that you could only do through God's power. (See 1 Corinthians 12:7-11.)

God thank you that all we have to do is ask. So we ask. Please fill us with your Holy Spirit. Fill us as individuals, and fill our churches, so we can serve you and do the things you have called us to do. Thank you. Amen.
